Concerned about the cost of starting a GriefShare ministry at your church?
Participant Pay can significantly reduce your church’s upfront expense.
Your church can purchase the base GriefShare Ministry Kit and choose to have participants purchase their own participant guides directly from GriefShare. That means your church does not have to purchase a supply of guides before your group begins.
How Participant Pay works
When you set up your GriefShare group, you can choose Participant Pay for your participant guides.
Then:
- Your church schedules and promotes its GriefShare group.
- Participants register for your group through GriefShare.
- Each participant purchases their own guide directly from GriefShare.
- GriefShare ships the guide directly to the participant.
Your church doesn't have to purchase the guides upfront, collect money from participants, or manage guide distribution.
What does GriefShare cost the church?
With Participant Pay, your church's primary investment is the one-time $365 Ministry Kit.
After purchasing the kit, your church can continue hosting GriefShare groups. Instead of budgeting for participant guides each time you host a group, you can allow participants to purchase their guides directly from us.
This makes Participant Pay especially helpful for churches that want to offer GriefShare but have limited ministry budgets or aren't sure how many participants will attend their first group.
Does our church have to use Participant Pay?
No. You can choose the approach that works best for your church.
There are three ways participant guides can be handled:
- Participants purchase their own guides. Participants purchase from GriefShare directly, and we ship their guides directly to them.
- Your church purchases the guides and is reimbursed. Your church orders and distributes the guides, and participants reimburse the church.
- Your church provides the guides. Your church purchases and distributes the guides at no cost to participants.
Participant Pay simply gives your church the option to start GriefShare without taking on the cost of participant guides.
Can our church charge a registration fee?
Yes. Some churches choose to charge a small registration fee to help cover expenses such as refreshments, child care, or other group costs.
This fee is separate from the participant guide. GriefShare does not collect registration fees on behalf of the church, so any registration fee that you list is handled directly between your church and your participants.
Churches can also choose to offer scholarships when they want to help participants who may not be able to afford their guide.
Start the ministry without letting guide costs hold you back
We don't want the cost of purchasing participant guides to keep your church from caring for people who are grieving.
With Participant Pay, your church can purchase the $365 GriefShare Ministry Kit, launch your ministry, and allow participants to purchase their own guides directly from us.
It's a simple way to lower your church's upfront investment while still giving participants the materials they need to fully engage with GriefShare.
